Data Roaming must be enabled on your eSIM for it to work overseas. Here's how to turn it on for every device type.
Setting Up Data Roaming
Data Roaming is the single most important setting for your eSIM to work abroad. It is turned off by default on most phones — and forgetting to enable it is the #1 reason eSIMs appear to not work after installation.
iPhone
- Open Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service.
- Tap your EscapeSIM plan — it may appear as Travel, Business, or whatever name it installed as.
- Toggle Data Roaming to ON.
Google Pixel
- Open Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs.
- Tap your EscapeSIM SIM.
- Toggle Roaming to ON.
Samsung Galaxy
- Open Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks.
- Toggle Data roaming to ON.
Also confirm your data SIM
Make sure your phone is using the EscapeSIM plan for data, not your home SIM:
- iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → tap Mobile Data (AU) or Cellular Data (US) → select EscapeSIM.
- Pixel: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Mobile data → select EscapeSIM.
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM card manager → Mobile data → select EscapeSIM.
